28 May 2014

Mobile Miscellany, 28 May 2014.

A true miscellany today, including last event, next event, surveys, partner events and, well, what not?

Last event: Cloud Computing & Mobile

Many thanks again to Google Cloud platform for hosting this packed out event and to our wonderful speakers - Camille Mendler @cmendler, Rob Easton @Cloud_Easton, Caroline Van Den Bergh @GoldenGekko, Jonathan Raper @MadProf and Dr Janko Mrsic-Flogel - for being so interesting! Blog coverage from Adam Cohen Rose and the Podcast from Mark Bridge at The Fonecast.

Next Event: A Demo Night in June?

We think it's time for a Demo Night towards the end of the month before the big Summer Escape. As well as being a lot of fun, our Demo Nights (e.g. last September ) have been an important step for many past presenters: a place to meet funders, find collaborators, get feedback, get some fame and of course, it's a chance to showcase the creativity and diversity of the community!

Simply put, in order to put on a Demo Night, we need financial contribution, so please get in touch with us at contact@mobilemonday.org.uk if you would be interested in co-sponsoring the event.

Help Vision Mobile get us more info on the UK developer economy

Vision Mobile has launched the first-ever UK App Developer Census, charting the mobile app developer economy in the UK and sketching the profile of the British App Developer (or B.A.D for short, I suppose). It's a 3 minute survey commissioned by Google UK and will be closing within the next few days. You will get free access to the report when it is produced over the summer. Get involved here.

And finally ... The Mobile Academy Season 4 is over - Season 5 starts 30th September

Last night saw the closing party of the latest Mobile Academy. We were touched to hear from participants that they did not want it to end. Big thanks to all those involved - our wonderful expert practitioner tutors from the Mobile Monday London community, ICT KTN for bursaries and UCL & Idea London for co-hosting and of course the wonderful talented and creative participants.
